Orchestra Swag
We need of someone to head up the Orchestra Swag Committee. We have a new logo & we'd like to get it out there! We can use the same company Marching Band does & utilize their templates - talk to me if you're interested!

Day For Strings Parent Coordinator
This is a Day For Strings year and our theme is BROADWAY! Parent coordinators help coordinate food and chaperones for Day For Strings. Janis Reinke has it all laid out and pretty much down to a science. This is a lot of fun. Let me know if you're interested in chairing or co-chairing.

CLASS BUSINESS

GOOGLE CLASSROOM
Students will be using Google Classroom extensively for announcements, short responses, references and quizzes. Make sure your student is signed up:

CALENDAR
Orchestra is a TEAM SPORT and performances before a live audience is the culmination of weeks, months and years of individual work and collective learning. There is no way to replicate a live performance. It is imperative the all members of our team perform at all concerts.

SUPPLIES

For Your Instrument
Every student needs access to an instrument to practice on. Students are responsible for practicing technique packets and preparing their own orchestra parts outside of class - this is our homework. This instrument needs to be in good working condition:

1. New strings purchased & installed
(every year for violin & viola, every 2 years for cello & bass)
2. Bow with a full & undamaged spread of real horsehair
3. Rosin
4. Cleaning Cloth or Handkerchief
5. Case for safe transport
6. Black Rubber Mute (for violinists & violists)
7. Shoulder Rest for upper strings
8. Rock Stop/End-Pin Stop for lower strings

For Music and Practice

1. Black Binder with pockets
2. 20 sheet protectors
3. 2 Pencils with erasers for your case or folder
4. Metronome or Metronome App
5. Music Stand for home practice
